Earlier this afternoon, volunteers from Campbell’s and the Philadelphia 76ers joined Camden’s Pride teachers and staff for a day of service.
With the school year coming to an end, the volunteers helped teachers clean out and organize their classrooms for the summer. From moving furniture and taking down posters to wiping down desks and packing up materials, the volunteers lent a helping hand wherever it was needed.
The Philadelphia 76ers mascot, Franklin, also stopped by to spread smiles and laughter throughout both buildings. From taking photos with staff to visiting classrooms and leaving positive messages on whiteboards, Franklin brought plenty of excitement to the day.
One of the teachers who found a message from Franklin was Ms. Torres, a 2nd grade teacher at Camden’s Pride.
“It was really helpful,” she said. “They helped me with all the heavy-duty work and made the process smoother.”
Ms. Torres said Franklin left her a note that read, “Enjoy your summer.”
“It felt amazing,” she added.
The day of service was a great way to close out the school year, as volunteers, teachers, and staff came together to support one another and celebrate another successful year at Camden’s Pride & Katz Dalsey.
