Last night, Camden’s Pride proudly presented Dare to Dream Jr., the school’s very first theatrical production. The performance featured talented 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students who participated in the Drama Club after-school program.
The production included musical numbers inspired by some of Disney’s most beloved films and box office hits. Student-created artwork was also showcased throughout the event, giving parents and families a creative Disney-inspired experience. Students performed in different sections throughout the show while parents and families watched with excitement and pride as their children took the stage. Many teachers also joined in the fun by performing snippets of famous songs, ending with Mary Poppins’ well-known classic, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”
Audience members enjoyed beloved songs such as “Let It Go,” “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” and “When You Wish Upon a Star” — timeless favorites that connected with both children and adults through their heartfelt lyrics and memorable melodies.
The event was directed by Ms. Balko and Ms. DeSilvio. While Ms. Balko guided students on stage throughout the performance, Ms. DeSilvio worked behind the scenes to help bring the production together.
Following the performance, Ms. Balko shared her excitement about the evening, saying, “It was really good. The kids did well and had a great time.” She also shared that she looks forward to putting on another performance next year.
One of the students inspired by the performance was Zoe Herrera, a second grader at Camden’s Pride who was excited about performing in front of the audience.
“I loved singing,” she said. “I sang ‘Hakuna Matata’ and ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me.’”
Another second-grade student, Shylah Blackshear, was one of the performers who had several speaking lines throughout the show and shared her excitement about the experience as well.
“I enjoyed singing,” she said. “I was a little scared being in front of a big crowd.”
Shylah also added that she may or may not return for next year’s performance.
Special thanks to Mrs. Hahn, Ms. Balko, Ms. DeSilvio, Mr. Gonzalez, Ms. Snell, Mr. Kelleher, Mrs. Riles, the teachers who performed, the teachers who helped in every way possible, the students, and the parents for helping make Dare to Dream Jr. a memorable and successful evening for the Camden’s Pride community.
