This past Friday, students and staff from Camden’s Pride & Katz Dalsey Academy participated in the Booster Fun Run. The event raises money for seniors who started their charter school journey at either Katz Dalsey or Camden’s Pride and are now graduating from Camden Academy Charter High School this June.
Students from Pre-K through 4th grade represented their school by participating in the run. Staff and parents gathered in support as students made their way around the course. The event was filled with music and dancing, creating an energetic atmosphere as students ran through to the final countdown. While many may assume this was a marathon with a single winner, the real winners were all the students for showing school spirit and helping raise money for senior scholarships.
In a statement, Mrs. Conway, Principal of Katz Dalsey, shared that the importance of the Fun Run and the community is rooted in working together and giving back. She explained that as students prepare to graduate, the youngest learners are also being shown how to give back to their community while still having fun.
Mrs. Hahn, Principal of Camden’s Pride, shared her thoughts on the event, saying that the fundraiser began two weeks ago and will continue for one more week. She expressed excitement and surprise at the amount raised, noting, “We are very surprised and excited we raised all that money.” She also reflected on the origin of the event, sharing that two years ago she, Mrs. Conway, and Mrs. Vega came together with the goal of creating something special for Pride and Katz students who continue their education from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
One of the students in attendance at the Fun Run was Kai-Dynn Robinson, a 3rd grader at Katz Dalsey. “I enjoyed running in the Fun Run,” Robinson said. “I also enjoyed when the announcers would change the pattern of the run to different ways to move.”
The Booster Fun Run continues to highlight the power of community, bringing students, staff, and families together to support graduating seniors and celebrate school spirit along the way.
