Camden Academy Charter High School students recently performed in their annual spring concert. Students showcased their talents in both the band and choir, highlighting a strong night of music and performance. There was plenty of talent on display from Camden Academy’s students throughout the evening.
From classical concerto pieces to Earth, Wind & Fire, Elvis Presley, Radiohead, and Billie Eilish, students and staff demonstrated their musical abilities as they performed for families and friends in attendance.
Mr. Goode, the first-year band teacher and band director at Camden Academy, was excited for his debut. He was proud of his students as they performed, especially many who learned an instrument for the first time this year.
“They were impressive, phenomenal, and I was very proud of them,” Goode stated. “We were moving fast this year, and for next year I would like to build a stronger foundation and focus on fundamentals as well as aspects of marching and show band.”
The band performed several selections, with one of the most memorable Earth, Wind & Fire’s “Fantasy,” which transitioned into “September.” Another standout piece was “Boogie Wonderland.”
One of the band's students, Savian Collazo, a junior at Camden Academy, was just as excited about the program.
“It felt good to perform in front of family and faculty,” Collazo explained. “We rehearsed before the concert, and we sounded great.”
Savian also shared that he looks forward to continuing with the band next year.
The choir was next to perform, delivering several strong performances. There were also multiple solo acts by students, including a standout rendition of “Fake Plastic Trees” by Radiohead, performed by Conde Ubarry, who played acoustic guitar while singing.
“It feels amazing, to be honest,” Ubarry said. “Everyone came up to me after the show saying how well I did, even though I doubted myself a bit.”
Overall, the concert showed the continued growth of music at Camden Academy and set the tone for even more to come.
Best regards,
