Camden’s Promise held its National Junior Beta Induction Ceremony. Parents of the inductees, along with several staff members, were in attendance for this momentous occasion.
The students being inducted are part of different clubs and activities that play a big role in the school community. This includes athletics, drama, student champions, drama club members who have been part of school productions, honors students, and students who consistently represent Camden’s Promise in a positive way both in and out of the classroom.
The ceremony began with the Star-Spangled Banner performed by one of the inductees, Hely Peralta, followed by an opening speech from Ms. Harris, the Beta Club sponsor and organizer of the event. Her speech highlighted the pillars of the National Junior Beta Club: excellence, leadership, service, and character. The event ended with closing remarks from Dr. Farmer, the principal of Camden’s Promise.
Each of the inductees reflects these pillars through their hard work, leadership, and character. One of the students in attendance was Zae Mbah, a 6th grader who many will remember played Jack Kelly in last year’s musical Newsies Jr.
“It feels pretty good to be inducted into the Beta Club,” he explained. “It opens up more doors for me to try new clubs and prepare for college.”
Delyanis Hernandez, a 7th grader , was another student inducted into the National Junior Beta Club. She is known for her academics and is also a cheerleader.
“It feels good and special, to be honest,” Hernandez explained. “It just feels good to be nominated and to become a Beta Club member.”
There were plenty of smiles and congratulations throughout the ceremony. Ms. Harris was among the proudest in attendance.
“It’s an amazing honor to know such amazing kids,” she said. “In this day and age, it is great to see students who will put others before themselves.”
We are proud of our Beta Club inductees and look forward to many great moments and new inductees next year.
